In het rapport wordt het design geprezen. De jury is onder de indruk van de pionierende spirit die al meer dan zeventig jaar het beeldmerk is van Land Rover en vertaald is naar een avontuurlijk concept voor de 21ste eeuw. Iconisch van naam, vorm en capaciteiten. De Defender is bovendien verkrijgbaar in twee formaten, er zijn Commercial-versies op grijs kenteken beschikbaar en de nieuwkomer is in hoge mate te personaliseren met tal van accessoires. Het brede motorenaanbod varieert van plug-in hybride aandrijflijnen, waarmee tot aan 27 kilometer puur elektrisch is te rijden, tot de uiterst krachtige V8-benzinemotor die recentelijk is geïntroduceerd.
Samen met deze nieuwe WWCOTY-titels komt het aantal prijzen voor de nieuwe Defender op meer dan vijftig. Het model werd eerder onder andere uitgeroepen tot Top Gear’s 2020 Car of the Year, Motortrend’s 2021 SUV en Autocar’s Best SUV 2020. De nieuwe Land Rover Defender is leverbaar voor prijzen vanaf € 84.144,-.
